Development of an enzyme immunoassay method for in vitro diagnosis of sarcoptic scabier in pets
An enzyme-linked immunosorben assay (elisa) was developed to determine the specific IgG when exposed to a sarcoptes scabei allergen through the manipulation of the appropriate antibodies and their use in the trial. The serum selection for the technique and the subsequent validation of the method was put into practice by the animal pathology department of the school of veterinary science in the ucm.
With the implementation of this trial, alergovet has given veterinarians in the whole of europe an alternative diagnosis method which is much easier, more reliable and more cost effective that the ones available up to now, for identifying one of the most common illnesses in an ever growing pet population.
